How songs are generated
When you tap Generate Song, the app does three things:
- Lyrics — your selected genre, voice persona, mood, era, topic, and language are combined into a prompt and sent to the public Pollinations text endpoint (
text.pollinations.ai), which returns original song lyrics. - Cover art — an image-description prompt is built from the same choices and sent to the public Pollinations image endpoint (
image.pollinations.ai), which returns a square cover image saved locally as a JPEG. - Beat template — the drum/bass/chord-pad instrumental is synthesised on your device in real time from the chosen beat template and saved as a temporary WAV in the app’s private cache. No audio files are downloaded.
The app does not attach your name, email, device ID, or any other identifier to the prompts. If a network call fails, the app falls back to a deterministic on-device template so the feature still works.
The “Sing”, “Karaoke” and “Duet” features
The vocal you hear is your phone’s built-in text-to-speech (TTS) engine reciting the lyrics with each Voice Persona’s pitch and pace — it is not a hosted AI singing model. Karaoke plays the on-device beat only, and Duet alternates two personas’ TTS settings between verses. All of this runs entirely on your device; no audio is uploaded or shared. If the TTS voice for your chosen language is not installed, the app falls back to your phone’s default voice and shows a hint to install the missing voice from Android Settings.
The “Lyric Rewriter” and “Lyric Card” features
Tapping a lyric line to rewrite it sends just that single line plus the song’s style context to the Pollinations text endpoint and replaces it with the returned line — no identifiers are attached. Lyric Card renders an image of your song (cover, title, and lyrics) entirely on your device and, only when you choose to share it, hands the image to Android’s standard share sheet so you can pick the destination yourself. ZL Songs never auto-posts or uploads anything.
Network connections
The internet is used for: loading ads via Google AdMob (see “Advertising” below), and sending prompts to Pollinations when you generate a song or rewrite a line. The app requires an active internet connection to open — you will see a “No internet connection” screen when offline.
Permissions the app requests
- Internet / network state — required to request ads and call the Pollinations endpoints.
The app does not request microphone, location, contacts, camera, gallery access, or any other sensitive permission.
What about AI-generated lyrics and ownership?
Lyrics returned by Pollinations are AI-generated originals. Because large language models train on the public web, generated lyrics may occasionally resemble existing works. Review any song you intend to publish (release, livestream, monetised video, etc.) before using it commercially. ZL Songs grants no warranty of originality or non-infringement on the AI output.
Advertising
ZL Songs shows ads provided by Google AdMob in four formats: banner (small strip at the bottom of some screens), interstitial (occasional full-screen ad), rewarded (optional full-screen ad in exchange for more song generations past the free limit), and app-open (full-screen ad when you bring the app back to the foreground). Google’s advertising SDK collects and processes limited data — for example, your device’s advertising identifier and approximate IP-based location — to serve and measure ads. This is governed by Google’s policies:
If you live in a region where consent is required (the EEA, UK, Switzerland, or a US state with applicable privacy law), the app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) or sets npa=1 (non-personalized ads) so it stays compliant with GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA. You can revisit your consent choice any time from the Settings screen.
Children
This app is not directed at children under 13 and is not classified as a “family” app on Google Play.
